Fashion Stylists vs. Fashion Designers Fashion stylists and fashion designers have some similarities, but the differences are very evident. Fashion stylists hold the job title of someone who selects the clothing for published editorial features, print or television advertising campaigns, music videos, concert performances, and any public appearances made by celebrities, models or other public figures. Fashion designers simply create garments to be worn and purchased by the general public. Fashion stylists unlike fashion designers will always be in demand. They bring in more revenue upon start-up, and they are given more opportunities to travel and meet interesting people. Famous French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent once said†¦show more content†¦On the other hand, fashion stylists have the opportunity to connect one on one with clients, while becoming aware of their likes and dislikes. A fashion stylist’s main objective is to make sure that the client is pleased with the overall look that has been created for them. This allows the fashion stylist to receive instant feedback on what the client is or isn’t pleased with. Because of this, fashion stylists will always be in demand. There is a great deal of labor and money that go into becoming a fashion designer, a lot of which require funds that may not be readily available. This includes purchasing a trademark for the name of your line, taking out a business loan which might require collateral due to the fact that most banks do not consider clothing lines as a safe investment, and any fabrics material, or equipment that might be needed upon start up. This creates the problem of spending more money than what could potentially be made. On the other hand, fashion stylists require little to no funds to begin working. All it takes is some marketability to get a name in the fashion industry and the ability to attract clientele based on personal style and previous work. Considering the fact that a lot of money is not required to start a career in fashion styling, more money can be commissioned.
